Do We Really Know Psychopaths?

I've noticed the pattern in my discussion choices this week, psychological ties. I decided to rifle through the barrel and find an article purely about psychology hence why I chose "Inside the Mind of a Psychopath" by Sbeyde Herrera. She gives the raw and dirty truth to where research currently stands on the criminal mind, which I appreciate the honesty. And upon reading what she wrote, my question arose, do we truly know psychopaths? Sbeyde's article starts   with how we naturally perceive psychopaths as crazed killers or an unemotional character. However, it stood out to me that these media perceptions act as blinders to the real thing. How are we supposed to spot a psychopath is our understanding is misguided. The author explains theories that have surfaced trying to explain what causes psychotic behaviors. Although, these theories are just that, theories. Theres nothing concrete to fully support their hypothesis. The biological research really intrigued me, rese...

Can One Fing Comfort in Hell?

The article "Why is Silent Hill so Cozy?" written by Paris F. Fields really attracted me because foe one, Silent Hill is a title I'm familiar with, and two, how could someone find comfort in a psychologically disturbing atmosphere? As I read, I discovered nostalgic connections throughout the article such as fog, loneliness, and silence. The author describes the setting as "nightmarish", that got me thinking when someone had nightmares as a kid or even as an adult, they sought something to comfort them back to sleep. So, it's possible that they're mentally comparing the uneasy landscape to that comfort they sought which makes the entire atmosphere comforting. Another theory looks deeper into the psychology of humanity, and that is the thought of humans taking comfort in destruction. The author goes into great detail about the "fog world", which is enshroud in fog. Once you mosey through, you're met with nothing just empty space and the whi...

Is Writing a True Relief?

The article I plucked from the Apple Barrel was, "Write What Disturbs You", written by Isra A. The theme of the article explored writing as a form of unofficial therapy, but does it truly work ? The author of the article recommends keeping a journal and I couldn't agree more! My opinion matches the authors, that dumping your thoughts onto a page truly declutters the brain. My curiosity drove me to peruse the comments below, because I had to know if people agreed. The general consensus was a positive outlook. A vast majority of readers also partook in spewing their thoughts onto a page. There were many descriptors used such as: freeing, liberating, and unbinding.   In conclusion, writing is a free and highly simple reliever that anyone can enjoy. Writing in a journal allows you to be honest with yourself and analyze the behaviors you are writing down that plague your mind. This results in a clear mind and personal growth.

Welcome to my Blog! A little about the writer. To start, my name is Emily. English is a very important part of my life. Thanks to the wonderful education system in America, I am proud to announce I can read and write. Anyways, why I think that is important is because to be able to voice your opinion is power. The written word holds the entirety of human knowledge, and that's awesome!
